Questions, answered.

What does photochromic mean?+
Photochromic lenses automatically darken in bright light and return to clear indoors. One pair works in all light conditions — no switching glasses.
How fast do they transition?+
Most darken within 30–60 seconds in sunlight and clear within 2–5 minutes indoors. They transition faster in warm conditions.
Do they work inside a car?+
Standard photochromic lenses react to UV light, which most windshields block — so they may not darken much while driving. For driving, a mirror or fixed-tint lens is better.
Are photochromic safety glasses ANSI rated?+
Yes — the Reactor and Kona TT meet ANSI Z87.1 for industrial and occupational use, suitable for job sites and OSHA-compliant environments.
Can I get photochromic lenses that fit over my prescription?+
Yes — the Outrigger OTG comes in photochromic and fits over most prescription frames, for light-adjusting protection without prescription-photochromic cost.
How long do photochromic lenses last?+
With normal use, typically 2–3 years before the effect fades. Avoid leaving them in a hot car or direct sun for long periods to maximize lens life.
